Melvyn Larranaga
Postdoctoral Research Associate
Melvyn Larranaga is a postdoctoral researcher with experience in the design and making of atomistic models for metallic materials with a given microstructure and / or population of extended crystalline defects. Once built, these models can then be used for various purposes ranging from the observation of the system evolution under a mechanical load to the computation of the relative stability of defects for instance. Within MIDAS Melvyn studies the effect of typical distributions of irradiation damages in Zr (especially dislocations) on the X-ray diffraction line profiles simulated from the atomistic models. These investigations aim to contribute to a further improvement in the analysis of the experimental line profiles of irradiated Zr.
