Artists scientists object making workshop

Scientists and Artists create ink splatters

In May, MIDAS reconvened with the para lab at Rogue Studios, in Oldham, for an afternoon of workshops and brainstorming sessions.

Building upon the success of our previous collaboration, MIDAS and para lab fostered an innovative environment by blending the talents of artists and scientists. The objective was to create interdisciplinary artworks that integrated their respective practices.

After the workshop some of the working groups decided to continue their collaboration for the upcoming para lab showcase from 8th to 10th September 2023 in Manchester (more details to be released shortly).

Each participant had the opportunity to collaborate with three distinct groups, employing materials sourced from Rogue Studios. The goal was to fabricate an object that merged the thematic elements identified in our prior workshop.

Pieces produced included a catapult, a musical performance using found objects, a centrifuge ink mixer, and a plastic “iceberg”.

Some collaborations had explosive results!
