MIDAS/MUZIC Progress Meeting September 2021
Our September MIDAS Progress Meeting will this year again be a virtual event, from Thursday 9th to Tuesday 14th September. We will also again hold the meeting in conunction with MUZIC-3, recognising the long-term close relationship between the MUZIC consortium and the UK Zirconium community (where MUZIC in fact began with EPSRC funding in 2008).
While we still look forward to being able to enjoy the additional benefits of meeting in person when restrictions allow, the online format worked very well last year, and has also allowed us to set-up and sustain our MIDAS Seminar Series. As there are also additional benefits to online participation, particularly in terms of allowing participants to join from around the globe, we are currently investigating options for future ‘hybrid’ in-person and virtual meetings, and will keep people updated on this.
The format of the meeting will be a series of online sessions, taking place spanning two weeks, and all afternoon-time in the UK, again to foster participation from outside the UK. The sessions will also be recorded and made available online to registered participants, for anybody unable to attend ‘live’, although in-person attendance is of course enouraged, in order to participate in the Q&A and discussion sessions which form part of each agenda.
The full agenda can be downloaded here, with the sessions taking place as follows:
Thursday 9th Sept. – Opening session and Key Challenge 1: Irradiation Damage
Friday 10th Sept. – Joint session: MUZIC-3 and Key Challenge 3: Environmental Degradation
Monday 13th Sept. – KC2 and KC4 joint session A: “Effect of Irradiation on Mechanical Performance”
Tuesday 14th Sept. – KC2 and KC4 joint session B: “Effect of Hydrogen on Mechanical Performance of Zr”
