Angus Wilkinson is Professor of Materials and Joint Head of Department at the University of Oxford, where he has worked for around 20 years. He leads the MicroMechanics group and works on fundamental aspects of materials deformation, which has a focus on the mechanical behaviour of materials, mostly metals and alloys, at the microstructural level. Research highlights of the group include development of the HiRes-EBSD method for mapping stress and dislocation density at high spatial resolution and the application of micron scale mechanical testing, particularly micro-cantilevers to extract engineering relevant mechanical properties data.
