Next MIDAS Progress Meeting

Join us for an online MIDAS meeting

10th - 16th September 2020

Meeting to be hosted in conjunction with partners in MUZIC-3

In late-March we had to cancel our MIDAS Progress Meeting, scheduled to take place in April and which was going to be one of the very first meetings to be held in the brand new Henry Royce Institute Hub Building in Manchester. Since then we’ve all had to adapt to different ways of working as labs, offices and facilities around the globe have been in shutdown due to COVID-19. Our plan for September was to hold a MIDAS Progress meeting in conjunction with the biannual MUZIC-3 consortium meeting, given synchronicities between research areas of these two programmes, with the meeting to be held at Bangor University, a partner institution in both MIDAS and MUZIC. While we look forward to a time when we can all meet-up once more as a community, it is clear that it will still be some time before we can do so safely in person, and we are therefore instead finalising plans for an online joint MIDAS-MUZIC-3 meeting, which will take place from 10th - 16th September this year.

To allow people from around the globe to attend the meetings at a reasonable hour, the format of this will be a series of online sessions, taking place over several days across two weeks, all afternoon-time in the UK. Without the need to travel, we hope this arrangement will work well for attendees who can balance attendance and participation in these half-day sessions with their other commitments. The sessions will also be recorded and made available online to registered participants, for times when you are unable to attend ‘live’, although we do encourage in-person attendance, as we are planning to make the sessions as participatory as possible, with Q&As in each session, and the opportunity to hold side discussions using the video-conferencing software’s break-out room capabilities.

The full agenda, including guest keynotes, is currently being finalised, but the session dates are confirmed as follows:

We will be in touch soon with further details on agenda and joining instructions, but please feel free to email in the meantime to register to attend, or with any other queries.
